IWC SCHAFFHAUSEN WAS FOUNDED IN 1868, COMBINING TRADITIONAL SWISS WATCHMAKING TECHNOLOGY WITH CUTTING-EDGE AMERICAN INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY. THE FOLLOWING YEAR, THE COMPANY MADE ITS PRESENCE FELT WITH THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE F.A. JONES CALIBRE, AND WENT ON TO PRODUCE A SERIES OF MASTERPIECES, INCLUDING THE PILOT'S WATCH IN 1936, THE AQUATIMER IN 1967, AND THE DA VINCI IN 1985.
The origin of the thorough craftsmanship of the multiple in-house calibers is the "probus scafusia" (Latin for the motto of respecting craftsmanship), which has been proclaimed since 1903 and continues to be carried out today.
