Romantics were not the only ones eagerly awaiting the first moon phase display in the classic hand-wound Portofino line, which offers an 8-day power reserve.
Housed in a stainless steel case, the Portofino Hand-Wound Moonphase is reminiscent of the original 1984 Portofino, which also featured a moon phase display. The IWC-manufactured hand-wound movement, the 59800-caliber, builds up a power reserve of eight days on a single winding. The silver-plated dial with moon phase, date, small seconds, and power reserve display is simple and well-balanced. The transparent sapphire-glass back reveals the inside of the movement with its 8-day power reserve, as well as the variously decorated bridges and grounds. It is available with a dark brown alligator strap handcrafted by Santoni in Italy.
