The “Portofino Perpetual Calendar” is the smallest timepiece in IWC’s lineup of models featuring a perpetual calendar, with a case diameter of 40 mm. This model is the first in the collection to feature a stainless steel case, and it combines a silver-plated dial, gold-plated hands, and upright hour markers with a blue calfskin strap fitted with a butterfly clasp.Developed by Kurt Klaus in the 1980s, the perpetual calendar mechanism automatically recognizes the number of days in each month and leap years, requiring no manual adjustment until the year 2100. The information is displayed on three subdials. Additionally, the gold moon phase display, set against a starry sky, boasts a high degree of accuracy, deviating by only one day every 577.5 years. The see-through case back offers a view of the in-house Caliber 82650. Equipped with a Pellaton automatic winding mechanism reinforced with ceramic components, this robust, high-quality movement offers a power reserve of up to 60 hours.
