The dial, with its precision graduations around the dial and stepped subdials, features a harmonious design. The Portuguese Chronograph has been the most popular model in the collection since its introduction in 1998.
At 41 mm in diameter, the Portuguese Chronograph is one of IWC Schaffhausen's most iconic models, and its compact dimensions make it easy to fit on any wrist, while the slim bezel makes it appear larger than it is. The neat and functional dial features Arabic numerals and slender leaf hands, and the distinctive inner ring with printed quarter-second scale not only provides an accurate indication of the time measured, but also recalls the Portuguese's origins as a high-precision nautical instrument that could be worn on the wrist. The "Portuguese" watch is also available in 18-carat red gold. It features an 18K red gold case, silver-plated dial, gold hands and appliqués, and a brown alligator leather strap. Powering the sporty yet elegant chronograph inside is the IWC-manufactured 69355 caliber. Through the transparent sapphire-glass back, one can admire this robust and precise chronograph movement with its traditional column-wheel design.
