The first G-SHOCK watch, the DW-5000C, was born in 1983, and the iconic square design of the GMW-B5000 series has been made fully metal and equipped with advanced functions such as smartphone links. The full metal case is realized by a shock-resistant structure that sandwiches a fine resin buffer between the metal bezel made of hard stainless steel and the main body case section. The size of the case is also maintained by high-density mounting technology. The back of the case is a heavy screw-back case with DLC treatment for superior abrasion resistance. The band is made of soft urethane material for improved fit. Visibility is also improved with the use of a film solar cell and STN-LCD (liquid crystal display). In terms of functionality, the watch is equipped with a Bluetooth® communication function and can acquire accurate time information through linkage with a dedicated application. In addition, the watch is equipped with a time correction system using standard radio waves (multi-band 6), stable drive by Tough Solar, a high-intensity fully automatic LED backlight, world time, and a day-of-week display in six languages, among other practical features. While inheriting its origins, this G-SHOCK has been further refined with full metalization.
